This is a question I hear often. After making a fertility plan for a couple, I am asked: what else can I do? Is there something that I should or shouldn’t eat/drink? Is there some activity I should or should not be doing? I only like to recommend things that I think will help. Will eating only pineapple every single day and wearing a certain pair of shoes help? Can’t say it will. But there is evidence that supplements such as Total Fertility or the Male Prenatal may improve pregnancy rates.
I’ve had couples go through IVF without the supplements, then go through with the supplements and get pregnant – the only thing they did differently is add supplements. More recently, I had a couple not get pregnant with IVF – the egg quality was so poor that embryos were not even transferred. She took 3 months of antioxidants and she is now pregnant – the only treatment they did was insemination. I think that supplements in addition to any fertility plan you make can only help – not hurt. So ask your doc about the supplement they recommend. I recommend supplements through Coast Science.
